My Favorite Gear & Tools

Welcome! I love helping people feel better and sometimes that happens by sharing the tools, gear, and products that I use at home. To streamline the process of “can you text me that link later today,?” I’m compiling those items here on one page for you! It’s a work in progress as I upload photos and reviews, so check back often to see what else is here! Some of the links below are Amazon affiliate links—if you make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for supporting my work!

What I’m reading

A book titled 'The Book of Lymph' by Lisa Levitt Gainsley placed on a round wooden tray, beside a potted succulent plant in a pot shaped like an elephant, on a table. In the background, there are other houseplants near a window with curtains.

Somatics: Reawakening the mind’s control of movement, flexibility, and health, by Thomas Hanna

Okay, so as you can see from the photo, this book has been well loved over the years. It is about to fall apart and in fact I should probably order a few copies: one for personal use at home, one for reference at my office, and one to loan out. Full of insight, theory, and practical exercises, this book was a game changer for me in reframing the sciatica that has come and gone (and come…and gone..)since I was a teenager. Now when I have a flare, I stay calm, I do the work, I feel better. Added bonus, most of the exercises included are mostly supine- and floor-based. An invaluable resource for anyone with a Dx of spine-based issues not requiring surgery.

Tools for self care

The Miracle Ball Method Kit has been a go-to in my self-care arsenal for over 15 years. The balls are softer than most people expect for trigger point release/muscle tension work but that’s a good thing for overworked muscles that need a break. The magic happens through time, gentle pressure, and breath. As an added bonus, this kit includes a short n sweet booklet of “exercises” to get you started. I put exercises in quotes b/c the method mainly involves laying on the balls and just breathing. Are you cool with just breathing and laying on the floor for a few minutes? Me too.
