CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, light-touch form of bodywork developed by osteopathic physician Dr. John E. Upledger. Rather than using the pressure and manipulation typically associated with massage, CST uses subtle hands-on techniques to assess and address areas of restriction throughout the body.
Treatment may include gentle work with the cranium, sacrum, neck, spine, diaphragms and surrounding connective tissues. Sessions are quiet, slow and deeply relaxing, with the client remaining fully clothed throughout treatment.
What does a session feel like?
CST is exceptionally gentle. Your therapist uses a light touch at different areas of the body while assessing tissue mobility and subtle patterns of tension. You may notice sensations of softening, warmth, movement or deep relaxation—or simply experience a very peaceful hour of stillness.
Because the work is subtle rather than forceful, CST can be a good option when you're looking for therapeutic bodywork without the pressure of traditional massage.
My Training
I completed CranioSacral Therapy 1 (CS1) through the Upledger Institute in 2017. My training includes the Upledger 10-Step Protocol and techniques addressing the sacrum, dural tube, cranial base, cranial bones, TMJ, and fascial diaphragms of the body.
My practice focuses on adult wellness and relaxation within the scope of my CS1 training. I do not provide pediatric CranioSacral Therapy or treatment for complex neurological or medical conditions. I know several excellent practitioners who specialize in these areas and am happy to refer out when appropriate.
“Her technique is outstanding. I was recommended by my doctor to do lymphatic massages after my surgery. Every doctor’s visit I was told my recovery was progressing amazingly. I owe it to Laura. It’s clear she has deep understanding of the craft and I feel so much better after each session. "
